The pessance of the economic crisis has left a bleak balance in terms of equality and social cohesion in Spain. The decline in per capita income levels, the increase in unemployment and precariousness of work have resulted in an advance of the situations of poverty and deprivation, extending the irrigation of social exclusion to new layers of the population and aggravating the situation of thetraditionally more vulnerable collectors. Faced with this, the response of public authorities has not come if not further worsen the situation with the progressive dismantling of social policy, under the pretext of budgetary stability. Of all the systems that make up the Spanish welfare state, that of social services is the one that is most suffering from the consequences of the crisis, evidenced through cuts and elimination of services and benefits. These transformations are modifying the social meaning of inclusion and its differentiation of vulnerability and exclusion. This research evidences the social repercussions of the economic crisis on the reality of social exclusion in the Region of Murcia, combining different and complementary perspectives of analysis: the Murcia population at risk of poverty and social exclusion; the social profiles of the users of social support centers;and regional social policy. All this adopting a longitudinal study approach, which covers the 2007-2013 period, accounting for evolution during the years of crisis. The main conclusions highlight the increase in situations of exclusion and vulnerability, the change in accepted social profiles, the magnitude of social policy cuts and adaptation strategies developed by social support centers that denote an important modification in the modelof social intervention.
