| Summary, etc. | Étudier les « carrières » n’est, en somme, pas très nouveau, demander à des collègues de revenir sur leur propre carrière en ethnologie et sociologie l’est sans doute davantage. Cet ouvrage réunit les textes de quatorze enseignants-chercheurs et chercheurs, tous ethnographes, attachés à des « terrains » en France ou à l’étranger. Ils et elles ont eu toute latitude pour se raconter, présenter leur parcours professionnel, ce qui fait l’originalité de ce collectif. De cette liberté de narration émergent les modalités personnelles d’une présentation de soi. Ainsi, nous saisissons la variété des manières de « faire carrière », de s’engager, certes dans une profession mais surtout dans une discipline. L’engagement ethnographique en ethnologie comme en sociologie passe par un attachement à une méthode voire à une démarche. Cet ouvrage collectif qui s’adresse à la fois à un public d’enseignants et d’étudiants permet d’observer une discipline en train de se faire ; il donne accès aux coulisses du métier de chercheur, de la pratique savante, de la construction des savoirs associés à des courants de pensée, inscrits dans des institutions ou des réseaux, etc., confortant l’intérêt de la notion de carrière, entendue comme processus. Il montre aussi comment la recherche en ethnologie et sociologie se transforme depuis les années 1970 au gré des affinités intellectuelles, des mutations institutionnelles... |
