Mais sa récente et fracassante montée en puissance est indéniablement liée à la crise de l’État irakien et à son impuissance – si ce n’est son opposition – face à deux revendications fondamentales : l’ouverture démocratique et l’intégration de la pluralité. En ce sens, l’instauration de l’État du califat illustre avant tout la crise existentielle de l’État irakien et son incapacité à concevoir des politiques reconnaissant la multiplicité des identités qui composent nos sociétés arabes orientales.
